Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Classes

Suitable for Reception age children and above

We follow the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) syllabus – an internationally-recognised portfolio of examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement in dance. Classes comprise:

  • The Graded syllabus from Pre-Primary to Grade 8
  • The Vocational Graded syllabus: Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation and Advanced 1 & 2.

Classes develop classical ballet technique and artistry and from Grade 1, the syllabus also includes Character dance which is based on European folk dance.

Younger children attend one weekly ballet class but from Grade 3 upwards we recommend where possible, that students attend two weekly ballet classes in order to keep up with the increase in demands of the work. From Grade 4 upwards (approximately 11 years +) those students who are more serious about their dancing have the opportunity of studying the RAD Vocational Grades alongside the RAD Grades.
